Fault code and DTC removal

When tuning modern vehicles, the onboard systems can sometimes bring up DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). Our software engineers can connect to the ECU through the OBD II port, check the settings, find the exact trouble codes, and adjust the ECU to stop them from appearing. By switching off specific error codes, we make sure your vehicle runs smoothly with any hardware upgrades you’ve fitted. This means you can enjoy better performance without any unwanted warnings or issues.

When to remove fault codes

DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are usually helpful for spotting problems with parts, but they can get in the way during performance tuning. The ECU checks certain readings from sensors, and if they don’t match what it expects, a DTC is triggered.

Our DTC remover switches off selected DTCs in the ECU, stopping them from being activated. This helps your vehicle keep running smoothly without these codes affecting its performance or how it drives.

Which DTCs can be disabled?

There are several DTCs we can disable, with one of the most common being P0420. This code signals “low catalyst system efficiency” and is often triggered in vehicles with a sports cat or de-cat fitted. The performance upgrade increases exhaust flow to unlock more power, but the altered readings at the O2 sensor can cause the ECU to trigger the DTC. By disabling this code, our engineers ensure that your vehicle can fully benefit from the performance upgrades without the ECU detecting a problem.

Other common performance modifications that may require DTC removal include removing swirl flaps, intake flaps, deleting EGR valves and DPFs, disabling speed limiters, and even turning off stop-start systems.
